The Community Justice Society (CJS) strives to provide a community-based Restorative Justice process, offering meaningful ways to repair the harms caused by youth crime and restoring positive relationships among youth in conflict with the law, victims of youth crime and our community. Established in 1999, CJS provides Restorative Justice Programming and services to the community of the Halifax Regional Municipality. The Society educates and advocates for community engagement in crime prevention and the building of positive relationships among all community members.
The Gordon Foundation for Children and Youth is an independent charitable organization committed to a leadership role in the promotion and advancement of the mental and emotional well-being of children and youth. The Foundation uses awareness and promotion to encourage and cause change that enhances the success and well-being of children and youth. The Foundation commemorates the work of Dr. Gerald Gordon, Executive Director of the Atlantic Child Guidance Centre (ACGC) for more than 20 years. From the late 1940s until integration into the IWK Grace Health Centre in 1995, ACGC and its precursor organizations sought to improve the mental and emotional well-being of the children and youth of Nova Scotia.
Maritime Youth Standing Together (MYST) is a group of teenagers from age 13 to 18, who have spent nearly two years raising money to build a school in Mali, Africa.To learn more about how $77.12 turned into $17,000 visit MYST online.
